Here’s your official reminder to mark your calendars for a once-in-a-lifetime event: A total solar eclipse will sweep across our country on August 21st for the first time since 1918 and Nashville is the largest city in its path! Last week, I read an announcement from Mayor Megan Barry’s office that a Total Solar Eclipse Viewing Party has been planned, in partnership with The Nashville Sounds, the Metro Sports Authority, and Adventure Science Center. The event will include hands-on activities, science demonstrations, and music from the Nashville Symphony all at First Tennessee Park. Gates will open at 10:30AM and the park will close at 2:00PM before the Sounds’ afternoon game. The added bonus is that tickets are only $5.67 each (with fees) so you can scoop up a few to make sure that your entire crew is there to experience this phenomenon. Tickets are expected to sell out so don’t wait!
